With his unique sense of design and a deep connection to traditional Japanese aesthetics, Yuki Nakamura has taken the art world by storm. Inspired by the subtle simplicity of Japanese art and culture, he creates mirrors with iconic shapes mounted on colored acrylic glass. His works are both functional and decorative, an interplay of reflection and color that offers the viewer a sensory experience.
Nakamura studied at the prestigious Tokyo School of Art, where he initially devoted himself to traditional Japanese craftsmanship. These influences are still visible in his work today, where he combines the heritage of traditional art with modern design. His theory of art, which he calls “LuminoReflection”, emphasizes the harmonious interaction of light, color, and reflection.
His works are a balancing act between the old and the new, tradition and modernity. For example, the simplified shapes of Mickey Mouse or classic bottles are reminiscent of pop culture, while the bright red and orange of the acrylic glass base has deep roots in the traditional Japanese color palette.
In Nakamura's mirrors, you see more than just your own reflection. You see a piece of history, culture and art created by a masterful artist. His distinctive shapes, such as the silhouette design or the vibrant colors, run through his collection and offer an unmistakable recognition value.
Nakamura's mirrors, especially those with the effective transition of colors, offer the viewer an impressive play of depth and surface. The colors always appear different depending on the light and perspective, creating a dynamic interaction with the room. It is this fascinating mixture of form, function, and art that makes Yuki Nakamura an outstanding artist of his generation.
